I came across this quote from The Crones Gathering,
Dunlop Lake, Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada |
"A new book with 365 blank pages is awaiting you.
Each page is for you to write your story.
There is no need to repeat what has already past.
Start writing anew with each morning."
I suddenly realized that most of my articles were written from my past. And it doesn't stop there! I was writing about my past so I could find a way to improve my future. I forgot the most important rule, "Live for Today." If you stop and think about it for just a second, that tiny small window of time called "Today" is the only thing we have control over and even that can be finicky.
Leave The Past Where It Belongs
We've all said and done things that we're not proud of but we can't let it define who we are now, today. We learn from the choices we make, good or bad equally. It's what we do afterwards that makes the difference in who we become, better or bitter. Fix what you can and make amends when possible and let the rest go. It's done, it's over and no amount of reflection and worry is going to make a difference now. Move on. Leave the past where it belongs, in the past and let go of the guilt.
Dreaming About The Future
We also spend way to much time dreaming about the future. Daydreaming is good for you and it can be fun, but you can't live there anymore than you can live in your past. If you spend all your time daydreaming about a better life or wishing for a better this or that, you're going to waste your whole life. It's good to dream about the things you would like to do or have but then come on back to today. Today is the place where you make things happen so those dreams can come true.
Today Is The Only Day That Counts
Today is the best place for you to be. Your past has taught you what not to do to succeed. Your future shows what could be. Today, and only today, gives you the opportunity to take all that knowledge from over the years and put it into play. Use it as a tool to accomplish your dreams. Today is the only day that counts. All the wisdom you've gained from the past and all your dreams of the future will amount to nothing if you don't do something about it today.
